Are You Worth the Investment?

I try to make it to a midday session called Winner’s Circle: Co-Pastor and Host Dr. Jennifer Johnson, at our primary location on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays. She was teaching on Daily Diligence and that got me to thinking about something I jotted down as it came to me, the Spirit simply asked, “Are You Worth the Investment?”  Google giving me the definition I need says an investment is ‘the action or process of investing money for profit or material result.’ Let’s say you invest in your friends business, you expect it to make profit for a good return, right? I do believe God expects the same. This question turned my notebook into a near six page study pad. This revelation was like oxygen, I had never breathed before. I can say being shocked into life, it is really a right now Word for me and I pray that it is to you as well. I came to type this up and my mom said that the internet was down. The internet has worked all day and last week I called to get it repaired. The Lord reminded me to speak! So I spoke and commanded that it started working. The devil will not stop the word from going forth. If God presses on my Heart to share, I will do just that.

I personally like the story of Job it is for me a story of strong faith and a sound mind concerning the ways of the Lord. Job went through the worst of the worse, losing children, wife walked out, friends walked out, stocks crashed, natural disaster, wealth wiped out, flesh falling off and then had two friends come kick him while he was down. Why? How did God know that Job would not speak against Him nor falter under pressure? God knew He made a good investment.

Job 1:8-12

Then the Lord said to Satan,” Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil.

Why could God speak so highly of just a mere man? Stop and take a moment to evaluate yourself. How do you do things? Do you complain about doing them; is it burdensome too you; are you irritated? When you do things what is your motive for doing them? Are you receiving something in return? Is it paying you, do you get bragging rights? Do you do it on your own sweet time; procrastinating much? Many people are sleeping on God. What I mean by that is; many are called but few are chosen. (Matt 22:14).

Let’s go to the beginning, Adam and Eve’s story can teach us so much more than I ever could think!

In the beginning, Genesis 3:8-12, Adam walked with God, after he and his wife ate of the tree, they hid once they heard the sound of the Lord God walking, they hid from His presence. Verse 9, then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, where are you?” Verse 10, Adam replies, ‘ I heard Your voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself.’ God did not ask why? He asked ‘did you eat of the fruit, I commanded that you should not eat of?

The Lord called to Adam, where are you? Let me ask, where are you in this moment in life? Are you walking in your purpose or are you way off course? God calls us when we go to our garden (secret place; prayer closet) but if doubt (being afraid) creeps in even while we are in the secret place, then we have stepped out of the covering (the presence) therefore being naked. When we hid from God we do some drastic things like; stop praying, praising, worshiping, going to church, stop listening, renewing our mind, studying, speaking etc. God asked them ‘who told you, you were naked?’ Who told you, you could walk in this life without the covering of God? Then by verse 12, they are blaming someone else. Making excuses like we do so well. So may be you weren’t raised in the right environment, you don’t know how, you have made many mistakes. Again I ask you, who told you, you were naked? There are no excuses why we are walking in disobedience and away from our purpose. Adam was to tend to the garden (the secret place) and he and Eve were to be fruitful and multiple. We are to love God with our whole being and love our neighbor as ourselves. (Mark 12:31) God invested in Adam and Eve just as He does us today.

When we throw away what God has invested in us its likes letting a thief get close enough to take the gun out of our hand, shooting us with our own gun and stealing all your valuables. Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy but Jesus was the investment so that we could be healed and that we can retrieve our stolen goods. We hear God calling us through our mess, when we feel that tug in our hearts or even feel like it is more to life than just this. It is, but most of us run and hid because we are so worried about the ‘Powerless people poll’ that those gifts, talents, anointing on your life is just sat on. We should be a Chosen people and I believe a Chosen people are people who surrendered their will and way to God’s. I believe when God calls us and we respond by choosing to step out of the boat in faith, we have Chosen the way of God. Look at Isaiah 6:8 in this way;

Also I heard the voice (the calling) of the Lord saying; “Whom shall I send (or who shall I invest in) And who will go for Us? (will this investment increase; multiply) Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Choosing to step out on faith). Once you make the choice to do God’s will, He in return invests in teaching and guiding you on how to do it.

Let’s get back to the discussion about Job. In verses 9-11 I see something very powerful, something I have never paid attention to or given thought. Satan says (a plain translation, that we can relate to better) ‘Haven’t you given Job everything he could ask or think? You protect everything that is in his possession. You give him favor with everything he puts his hands to do and you multiply all that he has. Now allow me to do my dirty work, test him, tease him, strip him of all he has even his reputation and dignity and I guarantee He will blame you and give in. But Satan is not seeing some very important pieces to the puzzle. Satan didn’t have a clue about Job and God’s personal relationship. Satan didn’t  know about what was discussed in Job’s prayer closet, the praise, the worship, the revelation given to him by God. All Satan knew is Job pleaded the blood (sacrifices he did) and the man was not in want for nothing. He didn’t see the cries to the Lord, the storms he had already overcome, the battles he had already won. People don’t know or see what you have gone through to get where you are. Just because your world seems to be crumbling and crashing does not mean God’s hand is not in it. He has invested a great measure in you and you can stand on His promises, love and trust that all is in control.When you are washed with the blood, God sees you as He she’s Christ. Blameless, pure, one who shuns evil and is upright before the Lord God Almighty! (Shout!)  Let’s invest time in the secret place with God, show Him that you are a worthy investment, that you will bless others as He blesses you. When your value goes up, persecution comes harder. (Mark 10:30). Have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. (Phil 4:7)

Joshua 1:7-8 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
